Uruguay Welcomes India's Embassy Opening
Alberto Antonio Guani Amarilla, Uruguay's Ambassador to India, welcomed the decision and highlighted the upcoming opening of an Indian embassy in Uruguay next month. He described this as a crucial step in strengthening bilateral relations. Amarilla expressed hope that External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar would attend the inauguration ceremony.
"We are now very much expecting the fact that India is going to open an embassy in Uruguay next month. We hope that Minister Jaishankar will be able to be the chief guest there," he said.
Call for Enhanced High-Level Engagement
Amarilla also called for greater high-level exchanges between the two nations. He stated that Uruguay would be delighted to host Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressed a desire for the President of Uruguay to visit India. Such visits, he noted, would further solidify the growing partnership.
Latin America as a Key Partner for India
The Uruguayan envoy emphasized that Latin America expects to remain a strong partner as India progresses toward becoming a developed economy. He pointed out that there is significant potential to expand cooperation across productive sectors.
"Latin America has increasingly emerged as an important partner for India," Guani Amarilla said, stressing the need to deepen economic engagement between the two regions. He added that India and Uruguay should continue identifying areas of complementarity and collaboration to create mutually beneficial opportunities and expand engagement across sectors.
