Government Enhances Passport and Consular Services in Western Uttar Pradesh

In a significant development for residents of western Uttar Pradesh, the government has announced a major expansion of passport and consular services in the region. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh made this announcement during a session in Parliament, highlighting the government's commitment to improving accessibility and convenience for passport applicants.

Current Infrastructure and New Improvements

Uttar Pradesh currently operates three regional passport offices, strategically located in Lucknow, Ghaziabad, and Bareilly. Under these regional passport offices, a comprehensive network of six passport seva kendras and 52 post office passport seva kendras is functioning across the state. This infrastructure forms the backbone of passport services in Uttar Pradesh.

For western Uttar Pradesh specifically, applicants now have enhanced access through two passport seva kendras and 19 post office passport seva kendras. These facilities operate under the jurisdiction of the Ghaziabad and Bareilly regional passport offices, significantly improving convenience and outreach for residents in this part of the state.

Nationwide Upgrade with Passport Seva Programme 2.0

Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh also revealed that the upgraded Passport Seva Programme 2.0 has been successfully rolled out across all 37 regional passport offices nationwide. This includes the three regional passport offices in Uttar Pradesh. The programme represents a technological and procedural advancement aimed at streamlining passport application processes, reducing processing times, and enhancing overall service quality.

The expansion in western Uttar Pradesh is expected to benefit thousands of applicants by reducing travel time and providing more localized service options. This move aligns with the government's broader efforts to decentralize and digitize administrative services, making them more accessible to citizens across different regions.

The announcement underscores the government's focus on improving citizen-centric services and addressing logistical challenges faced by passport applicants in Uttar Pradesh. With these enhancements, residents of western Uttar Pradesh can look forward to a more efficient and convenient passport application experience.
