Minister Rejects Foreign Media Claims on Air India Crash Investigation
Civil Aviation Minister of State Murlidhar Mohol on Saturday firmly dismissed recent foreign media reports regarding the investigation into the devastating Air India crash in Ahmedabad that claimed 260 lives in June 2025. The minister emphasized that the official probe remains ongoing and that no definitive conclusions have been established at this stage.
Trust in Indian Investigation Agencies
Mohol addressed the media, stating, "I just want to inform you all that our investigation agencies are probing the matter. Should we have faith in our own agencies or outsiders? Our agencies are working on it." He was quoted by the news agency PTI during his remarks. The minister further reiterated the importance of awaiting the final report before making any judgments or drawing premature conclusions about the tragic incident.
"Once the final report is finalized, then only it will be justifiable to comment on it," Mohol added, stressing the critical need to trust India's own investigation agencies rather than relying on speculative foreign media reports. This statement comes in response to an Italian media report that had prematurely blamed the pilots for the catastrophic crash.
AAIB Clarifies Investigation Status
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) also stepped in on Thursday to provide clarity on the situation. The bureau firmly stated that the investigation is still actively in progress and has not reached any final determinations. The AAIB explicitly labeled media reports claiming the investigation's completion as "incorrect and speculative," reinforcing the minister's position that the process is ongoing and thorough.
Details of the Tragic Accident
The devastating aviation disaster occurred on June 12 of last year when Air India's Boeing 787-8 aircraft, bound for London Gatwick, crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad. The crash resulted in the tragic loss of 241 passengers and 19 others, marking it as one of the worst aviation disasters in India's history. The incident has since prompted a comprehensive and meticulous investigation by Indian authorities to determine the exact causes and contributing factors.
As the investigation continues, officials urge patience and trust in the established procedures, highlighting that accurate findings will only emerge through a complete and unbiased examination of all available evidence.
