PM Modi Ends Seychelles Visit, Departs for India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his three-day visit to Seychelles on Wednesday and departed for India. During the visit, he held talks with Seychelles President Danny Faure and signed several agreements to boost cooperation in areas such as defense, security, and trade.

Key Agreements Signed

India and Seychelles signed eight memorandums of understanding (MoUs) covering defense, maritime security, hydrography, and cultural exchanges. The agreements aim to enhance strategic partnership in the Indian Ocean region.

PM Modi also inaugurated a new naval surveillance radar system in Seychelles, built with Indian assistance, to strengthen maritime domain awareness.

Strengthening Bilateral Ties

In a joint statement, both leaders reaffirmed commitment to combating piracy, terrorism, and illegal fishing. Modi announced a $100 million line of credit for defense and security projects in Seychelles.

"Seychelles is a key partner in our 'Security and Growth for All in the Region' (SAGAR) vision," said PM Modi during a press conference.

Cultural and Community Events

Modi also addressed the Indian diaspora in Seychelles, highlighting the strong people-to-people ties. He visited a temple and interacted with local artists, emphasizing cultural diplomacy.

The visit concluded with a ceremonial send-off at the airport, with President Faure personally seeing off the Indian prime minister.
