In a final push to complete voter enrollment before the fast-approaching deadline, Agra district authorities have announced an extensive door-to-door campaign scheduled for this Sunday. The special drive aims to accelerate the collection and digitization of voter enumeration forms across the entire district.
Massive Field Operations Planned
District Magistrate Arvind Mallappa Bangari has directed all Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and their supervisors to begin field visits from 8 am on Sunday, covering every household in their respective areas. The initiative comes as officials reported that despite repeated visits, many voters still haven't returned their filled-out enumeration forms.
Taking serious note of the situation, Bangari has instructed BLOs to coordinate closely with Booth Level Agents (BLAs), municipal councillors, and Nagar Nigam staff members to ensure complete form collection. This coordinated approach is expected to significantly improve the efficiency of the drive.
Sunday Strategy to Maximize Reach
The district administration has strategically chosen Sunday for this intensive campaign, considering it's a weekly holiday for most workers, including factory employees. This timing is expected to help officials reach more voters at their homes and complete the form collection process.
"All voters must fill and hand over their enumeration forms to BLOs. If they don't have details from the 2003 voter list, BLOs and supervisors will assist them," assured District Magistrate Bangari during the planning meeting.
Enhanced Resources and Final Warning
To strengthen the campaign's effectiveness, authorities have deployed approximately 1,600 additional personnel in urban areas where population density poses greater challenges. Voters need to provide only basic information – including their name, EPIC number, and signature or thumb impression – while officials will handle the technical entries.
Bangari reiterated that December 4 remains the absolute final deadline for form submission. He issued a clear warning: "Those who do not submit their forms will not have their names in the draft voter list. Do not wait for the last day," he urgently appealed to district residents.
Historical Electoral Roll Revision
This campaign is part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls currently underway in Uttar Pradesh, which began last month. This marks the first such comprehensive exercise since 2003, making it particularly significant for updating voter databases accurately.
Under this revision process, BLOs are mandated to visit every household until December 4 to verify and update voter details. Voters receive pre-printed forms in duplicate and must fill and sign both copies, attach a recent photograph, and return them to the visiting BLO.
According to the Election Commission's published schedule, the draft electoral roll will be published on December 9. The window for filing claims and objections will remain open from December 9 to January 8, with verification processes to be completed by January 31. The final electoral roll will be officially published on February 7.
