AP Power Distribution Company Cracks Down on Errant Officials
In a significant move to enforce accountability and transparency, the Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Ltd (APSPDCL) management has launched a major disciplinary campaign against 25 officials across various operational circles. The action comes as part of a broader initiative to eliminate malpractice within the state's power distribution system.
Zero Tolerance Policy Against Irregularities
Lotheti Sivasankar, the Chairman and Managing Director of APSPDCL, has directed stringent measures against officials facing serious allegations of misconduct, negligence, and operational irregularities. The suspended officials have been charged with multiple violations including corruption, manipulation in recording high tension service readings, and execution of unauthorized works without proper authorization.
"The organization maintains zero tolerance towards any form of malpractice," declared Sivasankar. "Any deviation from established procedures, whether in technical operations or administrative processes, will invite strict disciplinary action. Accountability at every level is essential to ensure transparency and protect consumer interests."
Circle-Wise Disciplinary Actions
The disciplinary measures have been implemented across multiple APSPDCL circles with varying penalties based on the severity of violations:
- Tirupati Circle: Two officials have been penalized with stoppage of increments for carrying out unauthorized works. Several engineering and field staff members have received show-cause notices for unauthorized shifting of power lines and alleged corruption cases.
- Kurnool Circle: Officials have faced action for irregularities in recording HT service readings. Penalties include withholding of increments and deferment of promotion. Additionally, an accounts officer has been issued a notice for negligence in processing a consumer service name change application.
- Kadapa Circle: Multiple officials have been served notices concerning unauthorized line shifting activities that violated established protocols.
- Sri Sathya Sai District: An assistant executive engineer faces increment stoppage for similar violations of unauthorized line shifting. Another official received a notice for failing to follow prescribed norms in providing agricultural power services to consumers.

- Chittoor Circle: An assistant lineman has been suspended for unauthorized line shifting and transformer installation without proper authorization.
Comprehensive Accountability Drive
The disciplinary actions represent a comprehensive effort by APSPDCL management to address systemic issues within the power distribution network. The penalties range from suspension and increment stoppage to show-cause notices and promotion deferment, depending on the nature and severity of each violation.
This crackdown follows increasing concerns about operational transparency and consumer protection within the state's power distribution system. By targeting officials across multiple circles and various levels of responsibility, APSPDCL aims to send a clear message about the consequences of violating established procedures and ethical standards.
The company's management has emphasized that these measures are part of an ongoing effort to improve service delivery, eliminate corruption, and ensure that all power distribution operations adhere strictly to regulatory requirements and consumer protection guidelines.
