Patna: Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Friday launched 157 projects under the urban development and housing department (UDHD) with a total expenditure of Rs286 crore. The event was held at Sankalp Sabhagar in Lok Sevak Awas, the chief minister's residence, where the projects were initiated through remote mode.
Foundation Stone for Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan Park
Choudhary also laid the foundation stone for Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan Park, which will be developed on the Waste to Wonder theme in memory of JP, the architect of the 1974 movement. The park, estimated to cost Rs11.44 crore, will depict the biography of Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan. This park will become a unique centre of environmental conservation and public awareness, said the CM.
Solid Waste Management and Urban Upgrades
The CM emphasized that the solid waste management system is being further strengthened to make the city garbage-free and ensure Patna looks clean and tidy. He added that the state government is continuously working to make Bihar more beautiful. Several schemes of Patna Municipal Corporation, Patna Smart City Limited, and Buidco, all under the UDHD, were launched during the programme. These projects aim to upgrade urban infrastructure and improve public amenities in Patna.
Vision for Patliputra Township
Choudhary stated that the dream of a new modern township named Patliputra would be realized in the coming days. A major satellite township bearing the same name will be developed in Patna over 66,000 acres, offering international-level residential, educational, health, commercial, and entertainment facilities. He said these schemes would not only make Patna a new model of modern urban development but also take its historical glory and cultural identity to greater heights.
Government's Goal for Bihar Cities
The CM said the state government's goal is to make every city of Bihar an ideal centre of development, cleanliness, and good governance. Through these initiatives, the historical glory of Patna would be restored.
Urban development and housing and information technology minister Nitish Mishra and UDHD principal secretary Vinay Kumar also addressed the programme, highlighting the department's ongoing work and the government's focus on planned urban growth, improved civic services, and cleaner cities across Bihar.
