Chandigarh launches voter awareness vehicle for roll revision

Chandigarh: Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Nishant Kumar Yadav flagged off a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) public awareness vehicle from the Chandigarh Secretariat in Sector 9 on Friday. This initiative aims to boost public awareness and encourage citizen participation in the ongoing enumeration phase of the electoral roll revision, which began on June 15 and will run until July 14.

The designated awareness vehicle will travel through various sectors and high-traffic public spots across Chandigarh to distribute information on how eligible citizens can verify and update their voter details. To boost civic engagement, authorities also set up a specialised SIR photo booth at the flag-off venue.

Urging residents to participate and cooperate with booth-level officers during the month-long field enumeration, Yadav emphasised the importance of ensuring the inclusion of all eligible citizens, correcting outdated entries, and preparing accurate electoral rolls for a transparent, inclusive, and error-free electoral system.
