CISF Assumes Formal Security Command for Delhi's RRTS Corridor

In a significant move to bolster transit safety, the security of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor has been formally entrusted to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). The induction ceremony took place at New Ashok Nagar in New Delhi, marking a pivotal step in enhancing passenger protection across this high-speed rail network.

Deployment Details and State-Wise Security Arrangements

A total of 251 CISF personnel have been sanctioned for deployment at three key Delhi Namo Bharat stations: Anand Vihar, New Ashok Nagar, and Sarai Kale Khan. This strategic allocation aims to ensure robust security coverage at these critical transit hubs. However, in a coordinated approach, Namo Bharat stations located in Uttar Pradesh will be secured by the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Security Force (UPSISF), highlighting a collaborative state-level security framework.

Advanced Security Vision and Training Initiatives

During the ceremony, Praveer Ranjan, Director General of CISF, emphasized the need for advanced security measures. He stated, “As mobility systems become faster and more interconnected, our approach to security must be equally advanced, integrated, and technology-driven. CISF is committed to delivering a seamless, robust, and passenger-centric security environment that not only safeguards infrastructure but also inspires confidence among commuters.” This vision underscores CISF's dedication to leveraging technology and expertise for transit safety.

CISF provides specialised training in metro and transit security, covering essential areas such as:

  • Access control systems
  • Advanced screening procedures
  • Effective crowd management techniques

To ensure uniformity in security standards, personnel of UPSISF have also received training from CISF at the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) facilities. This training initiative is designed to equip them with the necessary skills to secure RRTS stations in Uttar Pradesh effectively, fostering a cohesive security strategy across state boundaries.

The formal induction of CISF into the RRTS security framework represents a proactive step towards creating a safer and more reliable transit experience for millions of commuters in the National Capital Region and beyond.
