Rationale Behind the Changes
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized that metro stations are more than just transit points; they serve as reflections of the identity and cultural significance of their surrounding areas. Each name was finalized only after careful deliberation, taking into account key factors such as local identity, historical context, social relevance, and cultural importance.
She noted that recommendations from local public representatives and citizens played a crucial role in the decision-making process. Gupta assured that similar proposals will be considered in the future if they are found to be reasonable, underscoring the authority's commitment to aligning metro station names with public sentiments and community heritage.
