Door-to-Door Enumeration Begins in Chikkaballapur

The Election Commission has initiated a comprehensive electoral roll revision exercise in Chikkaballapur district, with Deputy Commissioner M R Ravi personally launching the door-to-door enumeration drive on Tuesday. Ravi visited a household in Kolar to distribute enumeration forms and kickstart the process.

Speaking to reporters after the launch, the deputy commissioner emphasized that the primary goal of this exercise is to ensure the electoral roll is completely accurate and free from errors. He stated that officials are visiting every voter's household in the district to collect required information, as part of the Election Commission's ongoing efforts to maintain a clean and updated voter list.

Officials Conduct Household Visits

The revision drive involves teams of officials fanning out across the district to verify existing voter details and add new eligible voters. The door-to-door approach aims to minimize discrepancies and ensure that all eligible citizens are included in the roll. Ravi noted that the exercise would continue until all households are covered, with special attention to newly constructed areas and previously unlisted addresses.

According to district administration sources, the enumeration process includes collecting proof of identity and residence from residents. Officials are also updating records for voters who have shifted residences or passed away since the last revision. The drive is expected to take several weeks to complete, depending on the number of households in the district.

Ensuring Error-Free Voter Lists

The Election Commission has set strict deadlines for the revision, with the final electoral roll to be published after a period for claims and objections. Ravi urged all residents to cooperate with officials and provide accurate information to help create a flawless voter list. He said that any errors or omissions can be reported during the door-to-door visits or at designated facilitation centers.

This exercise is part of a broader statewide effort in Karnataka to clean up electoral rolls ahead of upcoming elections. Similar drives are being conducted in other districts, with a focus on leveraging technology and field verification to enhance accuracy.
