Garhwa District Administration Enforces Strict Ban on Loudspeakers to Tackle Noise Pollution
In a decisive move to address growing concerns over noise pollution, the Garhwa district administration has issued a comprehensive order prohibiting the use of loudspeakers, sound systems, and DJs during nighttime hours. This directive, which took effect on Friday, imposes a strict ban from 10 pm to 6 am daily, aiming to create a quieter and more peaceful environment for residents.
Establishment of Silent Zones Near Sensitive Areas
Under the new regulations, areas within a 100-metre radius of all hospitals, nursing homes, and educational institutions have been officially designated as silent zones. This measure is designed to protect patients, students, and staff from disruptive noise, ensuring that these critical facilities can operate without unnecessary disturbances. The administration emphasizes that these zones are crucial for maintaining public health and educational standards.
Stringent Penalties for Violations to Ensure Compliance
To enforce the ban effectively, the district administration has outlined severe consequences for any violations. Authorities will seize sound systems and related equipment from those found flouting the rules, and legal action will be initiated against the responsible individuals. This strict approach is intended to deter non-compliance and underscore the seriousness of the noise pollution issue in Garhwa.
High Court Directive Spurs District-Level Action
The order was issued by Deputy Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Yadav in response to a directive from the high court, highlighting the legal imperative behind the move. DC Yadav has empowered district, sub-divisional, and block-level officials to take immediate action upon receiving complaints from the public, ensuring a responsive and efficient enforcement mechanism across the region.
Designated Nodal Officers for Public Complaints
To facilitate public reporting and oversight, specific officials have been appointed as nodal officers at various administrative levels. At the district level, Additional Collector Raj Maheshwaram has been designated as the primary contact and can be reached at 9470580770. Similarly, sub-divisional magistrates (SDMs) for Garhwa, Ranka, and Banshidhar Nagar—Sanjay Kumar (7903796154), the Ranka SDM (9534102095), and the Banshidhar Nagar SDM (7763988693)—have been authorized to handle complaints. Additionally, Circle Officers (COs) Shafi Alam of Garhwa and Danda (9560163463) and Yashwant Nayak of Meral (9931345485) are tasked with ensuring adherence to the noise pollution norms.
This initiative reflects the Garhwa district administration's commitment to improving quality of life by mitigating noise pollution, with a clear framework for enforcement and public engagement.
