Haryana Chief Minister Issues Urgent Road Repair Directives for Gurgaon
In a decisive move to address critical infrastructure issues, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has mandated immediate action on a severely damaged road stretch in Gurgaon. During a district public relations and grievance redressal committee meeting on Monday, Saini ordered officials to ensure the pothole-ridden section connecting Dwarka Expressway and Umang Bhardwaj Chowk becomes completely pothole-free within just 24 hours.
Swift Action on Multiple Fronts
The Chief Minister took serious note of complaints regarding the poor condition of the road from Umang Bhardwaj Chowk in Sector 10A via Gadoli up to Dwarka Expressway. He emphasized strict accountability and swift action, directing officials to remove encroachments immediately without delay.
"Irrespective of the department concerned — whether HSIIDC, GMC or GMDA — necessary action must be taken as per rules to repair all roads and make them motorable within one month," Saini declared while chairing the meeting. He stressed that all relevant departments must collaborate effectively to achieve this ambitious timeline.
Comprehensive Grievance Resolution
During the session, the CM demonstrated his commitment to responsive governance by addressing multiple citizen complaints. Out of 17 grievances presented, Saini resolved 12 on the spot and issued specific instructions for status reports on the remaining five cases, ensuring follow-through on all pending matters.
One significant breakthrough came for over 7,000 residents of Sector 85, where a long-pending road blockage issue was finally cleared. Based on a committee report regarding a complaint from Carnation Residency RWA, the private land in question was purchased by the builder, and the process of removing old structures began immediately.
Major Infrastructure Improvements Announced
The resolution paves the way for construction of a 24-metre-wide connecting road within two weeks, establishing direct connectivity with Sector 86 main road and Dwarka Expressway. This development will provide major commuting relief to approximately 7,000 residents and 800 school students who have faced transportation challenges for an extended period.
Regarding the chronic waterlogging problem in Surat Nagar Phase 1, Saini directed officers to ensure complete resolution within one month. "All affected lanes should be freed from waterlogging and renovated to provide relief to local residents," he stated, adding that proper drainage arrangements should be restored immediately with pumps installed wherever required to remove stagnant water.
Commitment to Development and Accountability
The Chief Minister emphasized that "the government is fully committed to the overall development of Gurgaon and the resolution of citizens' problems." He directed regular monitoring of all repair works and warned of strict action against responsible officers if deadlines are not met, establishing clear accountability mechanisms.
Later in the evening, Saini inaugurated the Nagesh Trophy Men's National T20 Cricket Tournament for the Blind at Tau Devi Lal Stadium, highlighting his administration's broader commitment to sports development. "Our government is committed to ensuring that every talent gets a platform and every dream gets wings," he announced.
Substantial Sports Infrastructure Investment
The Chief Minister revealed that special sports infrastructure and a separate stadium will be developed for para-athletes in the state to provide better training and opportunities. He noted that during the last 11 years, Rs 989 crore was spent on developing sports facilities across Haryana, with the sports department budget increasing significantly from Rs 275 crore to more than Rs 602 crore.
Under the Haryana Outstanding Sportsperson Service Rules 2021, the government has created 550 new posts and provided government jobs to 231 players. Additionally, a modern rehabilitation centre was established in Panchkula for treatment and recovery of athletes, demonstrating comprehensive support for sports professionals at all levels.
