Hyderabad Municipal Commissioners Rally Swachh Auto Workers for Cleanliness Initiative
In a significant move to enhance urban hygiene, the commissioners of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Cyberabad, and Malkajgiri have called upon Swachh auto workers to take a pivotal role in maintaining cleanliness across the Tri-Corporation area. The joint appeal was made during a high-level meeting held at the GHMC head office on Friday, aiming to eliminate visible rubbish from roads and residential zones.
Key Discussions and Commitments from the Meeting
The meeting saw commissioners R V Karnan of GHMC, G Srujana of Cyberabad, and T Vinay Krishna Reddy of Malkajgiri engage directly with Swachh Auto drivers and sanitation staff. They attentively listened to the workers' concerns and pledged immediate action to resolve issues, backed by institutional support. This dialogue underscores a collaborative effort to tackle waste management challenges in Hyderabad.
Sanitation as a Top Priority in 100-Day Action Plan
Officials emphasized that sanitation will be the cornerstone of the upcoming 100-day action plan, with a clear mandate to ensure no rubbish is visible within the CURE jurisdiction. Achieving this ambitious goal is heavily dependent on Swachh Autos executing 100% daily door-to-door garbage collection, a critical step toward a litter-free environment.
Operational Enhancements and Monitoring Strategies
To bolster efficiency, each Swachh Auto will be paired with one corporation sanitation worker, fostering teamwork and accountability. Additionally, mapping and close monitoring efforts will be intensified, particularly in newly merged municipalities, to ensure comprehensive coverage and adherence to cleanliness standards.
Welfare Measures and Mutual Assurances
In a bid to support the workforce, the commissioners promised enhanced welfare measures, including accident insurance and ex gratia support in case of mishaps, alongside job security guarantees. In response, Swachh Auto workers expressed full cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to achieving the 100% daily door-to-door waste collection target, highlighting a shared dedication to urban cleanliness.
