Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Monday asserted that India’s civilisational strength is rooted in its timeless wisdom, which continues to guide the nation’s cultural and spiritual identity. Speaking at an event in Karnataka, he highlighted the role of institutions like the Academy of Comparative Philosophy and Religion (ACPR) in preserving and promoting this rich heritage.
Shekhawat underscores role of ACPR
Shekhawat, the Minister of Culture and Tourism, lauded the ACPR for its contributions to comparative philosophy and religion. He noted that such institutions are vital for carrying forward India’s intellectual and spiritual legacy, ensuring that ancient knowledge remains relevant in modern times. “India’s strength has always been its ability to adapt while preserving its core values,” he said.
Timeless wisdom as national asset
The minister emphasised that India’s civilisational heritage is not just a relic of the past but a living tradition that offers solutions to contemporary challenges. He cited examples of ancient texts and practices that have influenced global thought. “Our scriptures and philosophies provide insights into sustainable living, harmony, and ethical governance,” Shekhawat added.
Call for youth engagement
Shekhawat urged the younger generation to engage with India’s philosophical traditions. He remarked that understanding this wisdom could help address issues like environmental degradation and social discord. “The youth must explore our heritage to build a better future,” he said.
The event was attended by scholars, religious leaders, and students, who discussed the relevance of ancient wisdom in today’s world. Shekhawat’s remarks come amid ongoing efforts to promote India’s soft power through cultural diplomacy.
