Jaipur: Ten sanitation workers began an indefinite hunger strike outside the Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) headquarters at Lal Kothi on Friday, demanding resolution of long-pending issues related to sanitation worker recruitment.

The protest was organized by the Sanyukt Valmiki Evam Safai Shramik Sangh, which alleged that assurances given during earlier negotiations have not been implemented. The union is demanding priority in recruitment for families traditionally engaged in sanitation work, appointment of candidates involved in recruitment-related court cases, and preference for both serving and former sanitation workers in the recruitment process.
