Jaipur Traffic Police Introduce SMS Alert System for Towed Vehicles
In a significant move to alleviate the distress faced by motorists, the traffic wing of the Jaipur Commissionerate has launched an automated SMS notification system. This initiative, rolled out on Wednesday, aims to promptly inform vehicle owners about the location of impound yards after their vehicles are towed, ending months of confusion and inconvenience.
Ending Motorists' Confusion
For years, residents like Amitesh Sharma from Sodala have endured frustrating experiences. Approximately five months ago, Sharma parked his car near Panch Batti Circle on MI Road and briefly visited a nearby shop. Upon returning, he found his vehicle missing. After frantic inquiries with local shopkeepers and pedestrians, he discovered that the police had towed it away. Sharma then had to walk to the nearest crossing to locate a constable, who directed him to the Bais Godam impound yard. Such scenarios will now be a thing of the past with the new system.
Official Confirmation and Details
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sumeet Meharda confirmed the implementation, stating that the system became operational on Wednesday. "We have six to seven impounding yards across the city. Although we tow vehicles to the nearest yard, many motorists are unaware of these locations. Therefore, we decided to launch this SMS alert for towed vehicles," Meharda explained. Under this system, as soon as a vehicle is towed, an automated SMS is sent to the mobile number registered with the vehicle. The message includes the vehicle's registration number and the specific impound yard location from where it can be retrieved.
Impound Yard Locations
The impounding yards in Jaipur are strategically located at key points across the city to facilitate easy access. These include:
- Below GT Puliya in Malviya Nagar
- Behind Ramniwas Bagh
- Below 14 Number Puliya in VKI area
- Below Jhotwara Puliya in Vidyadhar Nagar
- Below Khasa Kothi Puliya
- Below Bais Godam Puliya
This initiative is expected to streamline the process for motorists, reducing the time and effort spent in locating towed vehicles and enhancing overall traffic management efficiency in Jaipur.
