Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has announced the establishment of a separate 'Prajaseva Department' dedicated to addressing public grievances. The new department will have an exclusive minister and a dedicated administrative machinery to examine petitions and ensure timely responses from the administration.
Speaking at a press conference, Shivakumar stated that the government aims to streamline the grievance redressal process and make it more efficient. The Prajaseva Department will act as a single window for citizens to submit their complaints and track their resolution.
The decision comes amid growing concerns over delays in addressing public issues. The department will be responsible for coordinating with various government agencies to expedite solutions. A senior officer will be appointed as the head of the department, and a toll-free helpline will be set up for easy access.
Opposition leaders have welcomed the move but questioned its implementation. The government has assured that the department will be fully operational within three months.
