Lucknow Municipal Corporation Honored at State Horticulture Exhibition

The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has achieved significant recognition for its environmental and urban development initiatives, winning prestigious awards at a major regional exhibition. The corporation's efforts in promoting sustainable urban living were highlighted at the event, which concluded recently.

Rooftop Gardening Model Earns Second Prize

At the regional fruit, vegetable, and flower exhibition held at Jan Bhavan, the LMC's innovative rooftop gardening model was awarded the second prize. This state-level event, which concluded on Sunday, showcased cutting-edge horticulture and agriculture models from various districts, institutions, and urban local bodies across the region.

Among numerous competitive entries, the LMC's model distinguished itself through its practical utility, innovative design, and substantial environmental benefits. The initiative focuses on maximizing limited rooftop spaces in urban areas to create green zones that help regulate temperatures and foster healthier living environments.

The award was presented by Governor Anandiben Patel during the ceremony. Accepting the honor on behalf of the corporation were key officials including Additional Municipal Commissioner Arvind Kumar Rao, Horticulture Superintendent Gangaram Gautam, and Shashikant Shashi.

First Prize in Park Category

In addition to the rooftop gardening recognition, the LMC also secured the first prize in the park category specifically for parks spanning between 1,000 and 2,000 square metres. This award underscores the corporation's comprehensive work in park development, beautification, and maintenance throughout Lucknow.

The dual achievements highlight the LMC's multifaceted approach to urban environmental management, combining innovative small-space solutions with traditional public space enhancement.
