Mandya DC Calls for Sustained Effort in Cleanliness Drive

Mandya Deputy Commissioner Advocates for Sustained Cleanliness as a Social Duty

In a recent address, Deputy Commissioner Kumara of Mandya underscored that maintaining urban cleanliness is far from a one-day endeavor. He framed it as an ongoing social responsibility that requires the active and continuous participation of every resident. The official stressed that only through sustained public involvement can Mandya truly transform into a plastic-free and environmentally conscious city.

Swachh Survekshan Awareness Programme Highlights Citizen Education

Speaking at the Swachh Survekshan awareness programme, organized by the City Municipal Council, Kumara delivered his message in front of the park at Sri Shivakumara Swamiji Gnana Kendra School. The event was strategically designed to educate citizens and reinforce the critical importance of cleanliness, proper sanitation, and effective waste management. These efforts are integral to the nationwide Swachh Survekshan campaign, which aims to foster hygienic urban environments across India.

Kumara observed that genuine cleanliness originates from a clean mindset. He articulated, "A healthy and clean society can be achieved only when citizens change their attitude towards waste disposal." The Deputy Commissioner made a direct appeal to residents, urging them to refrain from discarding rubbish on roadsides or in public spaces. He called upon households to rigorously implement segregation of wet and dry waste at the source, a practice essential for ensuring efficient and effective waste management systems.

Combating Plastic Pollution and Promoting Green Initiatives

Highlighting the detrimental effects of plastic pollution, DC Kumara appealed to the public to significantly reduce plastic usage and embrace eco-friendly alternatives. In addition to waste management, he encouraged citizens to actively participate in greening efforts by planting saplings and cultivating plants in front of their homes. Kumara emphasized that increasing green cover plays a vital role in maintaining environmental balance and enhancing the city's overall livability.

As part of the comprehensive programme, officials and volunteers engaged in creative initiatives to spread awareness. They created paintings and murals at prominent locations throughout Mandya, designed to communicate powerful messages on hygiene, sanitation, and environmental protection. These artistic efforts successfully drew public attention to the ongoing cleanliness drive, making the campaign more visible and engaging for the community.

The event saw the presence of key officials, including City Municipal Commissioner Pampashree and Urban Development Cell Project Director Narasimhamurthy, underscoring the collective commitment to Mandya's sanitation goals. Their participation highlighted the coordinated approach between local government bodies and civic authorities in driving the Swachh Survekshan initiatives forward.
