The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) has announced that all Citizen Facilitation Centres (CFCs) will remain open on weekends until June 30, allowing residents to pay property tax and complete related tasks. The decision, announced on Saturday, aims to help property owners avail government-backed interest waivers and rebates on pending tax payments before the deadline.
Weekend facility for convenience
MCG officials said the move was taken to assist residents who cannot visit corporation offices on regular working days. By extending operating hours to weekends, the corporation provides additional opportunities for property owners to settle dues and avoid penalties for non-payment. The CFCs will be open on Saturdays and Sundays until June 30.
Haryana government relief scheme
The Haryana government has announced a 100% waiver on interest levied on pending property tax for all MCG-area property owners, along with a special 10% rebate on payment for the current financial year. To avail these benefits, owners must self-certify their property details on the no-dues certificate (NDC) portal and deposit all pending dues in full before June 30. Only those fulfilling both conditions will be eligible for the relief.
Appeal from MCG commissioner
MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya urged residents to take advantage of the scheme before the deadline. “The interest waiver and rebate are a significant relief, and the weekend centres are there to make the process as convenient as possible. There is no reason to delay,” he said. Dahiya also emphasized that property tax revenue funds essential civic services, including road maintenance, sanitation, drainage, street lighting, and parks, and urged residents to pay on time.
Expected high footfall
Tax department officials noted that many residents have dues pending over several years. “This is an opportunity to regularise their status without the additional burden of accumulated interest. We expect footfall at the CFCs to be high this weekend and the next,” an official said. The corporation anticipates increased activity at the centres as the deadline approaches.
