Nashik Authority Mandates Urgent Ground Survey for 2027 Kumbh Mela Parking Sites

The Nashik Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority (NTKMA) has issued a directive on Thursday, ordering the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) and other concerned agencies to immediately conduct a comprehensive joint ground survey of all proposed parking sites for the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela in 2027. This critical initiative aims to ensure smooth traffic management and crowd control during the massive religious congregation.

Seven-Day Deadline for Detailed Verification Report

The official order mandates physical verification of every identified plot, including those under the jurisdiction of the Public Works Department (PWD). A detailed report must be submitted within a strict seven-day timeframe. The survey will extensively cover major land parcels along key transportation corridors, including Peth Road, Dindori Road, Dhule Road, Pune Road, and Mumbai Road. Additionally, sites located outside NMC limits and within the Trimbakeshwar region will be thoroughly examined.

Addressing Boundary Clarity and Infrastructure Readiness

Officials have highlighted that several identified plots currently require boundary clarity and precise geo-mapping before they can be finalized for parking purposes. The joint exercise will meticulously validate crucial aspects such as plot size, entry and exit points, connectivity to main roads, and overall readiness for temporary parking infrastructure installation during peak festival days.

NTKMA Commissioner Shekhar Singh emphasized the necessity for precise on-ground validation, stating, "Accurate mapping of land parcels is absolutely essential for implementing smooth, scientific traffic management systems." He further clarified that the approved parking plan will serve as a key component of the comprehensive 2027 mobility and crowd-management strategy.

Enhanced Parking Strategy Compared to 2015 Kumbh

During the previous Kumbh Mela in 2015, authorities had established only inner and outer parking zones. However, for the 2027 event, a more sophisticated three-tier parking system is being planned. Officials explained, "This time, we are also strategically planning parking spaces in the middle zone between outer and inner parking areas to better manage the massive crowds. Devotees will be transported by city buses from outer parking to middle parking zones, from where they will have direct access to proceed to the bathing ghats, instead of going directly to Ramkund, to prevent excessive crowding at the main bathing site."

Upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela Schedule

The Simhastha Kumbh Mela is scheduled to be held next year. The flag-hoisting ceremony is officially set for October 31, while the three sacred Amrit Snans (holy baths) will take place between August and September 2027, marking the peak of the religious festivities.
