Noida Authority Intensifies Crackdown on Unauthorized Vendors with Daily Enforcement Drives
The Noida Authority has announced a significant escalation in its efforts to combat encroachments by launching daily anti-encroachment drives targeting unauthorized vendors, hawkers, and roadside stalls operating in public areas. This decisive move aims to ensure smooth traffic flow, reduce congestion, and maintain accessibility on roads and public spaces throughout the city.
Addressing Traffic Bottlenecks and Public Safety Concerns
Unauthorized vendors in high-traffic markets such as Atta Market, Sector 18 Market, Sector 37, and other bustling commercial zones have been identified as major contributors to traffic bottlenecks, particularly during peak hours. These encroachments often narrow carriageways, forcing vehicles into dangerous maneuvers. Additionally, footpaths are frequently occupied by makeshift stalls, compelling pedestrians to walk on roads, thereby increasing the risk of accidents and compromising public safety.
Systematic Removal Operations with Enhanced Resources
As part of this comprehensive plan, the Authority has equipped each of its ten work circles with a JCB machine and a dumper to facilitate regular and systematic removal of encroachments. Officials emphasize that daily enforcement will serve as a strong deterrent against illegal vending and help prevent re-encroachment, ensuring long-term effectiveness of the initiative.
Recent Drives Across Multiple Sectors Demonstrate Scope
On Monday, enforcement teams carried out extensive anti-encroachment operations in numerous locations, including DSC Road near New Ashok Nagar, MP-2 Road, and sectors 34, 35, 44, 51, 63, 65, 66, 70, 71, 93A, 124, 126, 150, 155, and 156, as well as Hosiery Complex, Phase 2, and Gejha Tilpatabad. The operation involved the deployment of earthmovers and dumpers to clear illegal kiosks, food carts, wooden stalls, and temporary structures. Several vendors were observed removing their belongings proactively as enforcement teams dismantled structures and loaded confiscated materials onto trucks for disposal.
Response to Public Complaints and Civic Demands
The Authority regularly receives complaints regarding unauthorized vendors from various stakeholders, including the general public, Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), and industrial organizations. To address these persistent grievances, the Authority has initiated this intensified drive. For instance, Sanjeev Kumar, a resident of Sector 51, highlighted that sector residents recently held a meeting with Authority officials to raise several civic demands, prominently featuring the removal of encroachments. Kumar stated, "We have demanded resurfacing of the damaged road near Cloud Nine Hospital, along with the installation of interlocking tiles on the footpath and repair of the broken drain in the area. We have also sought the installation of interlocking tiles on footpaths along green belts and around parks in the sector."
Officials affirm that such enforcement actions will continue unabated to prevent re-encroachment and keep public spaces obstruction-free, thereby enhancing the overall quality of life for Noida's residents and commuters.
