Odisha Government Implements Minor IAS Cadre Reshuffle
The state government of Odisha announced a minor administrative reshuffle within the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) cadre on Wednesday. This strategic move involves reassignments and the retention of additional charges for several key officials, aiming to streamline governance and enhance departmental efficiency across the state.
Key Appointments and Additional Responsibilities
Bhupendra Singh Poonia, who currently serves as the Secretary of Skill Development and Technical Education, has been permitted to continue holding the additional charge of Secretary for Sports and Youth Services. This decision underscores the government's focus on integrating skill development initiatives with youth and sports programs to foster holistic growth.
In another significant appointment, D Prasanth Kumar Reddy has been named as the Managing Director of the Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Idco). Reddy was previously serving as the Secretary of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), and his new role is expected to bolster industrial infrastructure development in Odisha.
New MSME Secretary and Other Assignments
Rashmita Panda has been appointed as the new Secretary of MSME, taking over from D Prasanth Kumar Reddy. Additionally, Panda will retain her additional charges as the Chairperson and CEO of Startup Odisha, as well as the CEO of the Odisha Space Applications Centre (ORSAC). This consolidation of roles aims to synergize efforts in promoting entrepreneurship and technological innovation within the state.
Surendra Kumar Meena, who holds the position of Additional Secretary in the Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes Development Department, will continue in his additional capacities as the Executive Director of the Centre for Modernising Government Initiatives (CMGI) and as the Convener of the Committee on Administrative and Governance Reforms. This move highlights the government's commitment to modernizing administrative processes and ensuring inclusive development.
Consolidation of Industrial Roles
Aboli Sunil Naravane, the Director of Industries, will maintain her additional charges as the Managing Director of the Odisha Small Industries Corporation and the Odisha State Financial Corporation. Furthermore, she has been allowed to retain the additional charge as the Managing Director of the Industrial Promotion and Investment Corporation of Odisha Limited (IPICOL). This consolidation is designed to enhance coordination and efficiency in industrial promotion and financial support mechanisms across the state.
