PAU and NCC Join Forces to Boost Youth Development and Nation-Building
PAU, NCC Partner for Youth Development and Nation-Building

Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) and the National Cadet Corps (NCC) have strengthened their collaboration to foster youth empowerment, discipline, and nation-building. Brigadier PS Cheema, SM, VSM, Group Commander of NCC Group Headquarters Ludhiana, met with PAU Vice-Chancellor Dr Satbir Singh Gosal to discuss expanding NCC initiatives at the university.

Partnership Focuses on Holistic Student Development

The meeting centered on aligning NCC activities with PAU’s academic vision to develop future-ready graduates with leadership, social responsibility, and professional excellence. Dr Gosal reaffirmed PAU’s commitment to holistic student development, stating that the university will continue supporting initiatives that combine academic excellence with character building and national service.

Dr Gosal expressed confidence that the enhanced partnership will empower students to become skilled, responsible, and socially conscious leaders. The collaboration aims to integrate agricultural research, rural development, and community outreach with NCC programs, enabling cadets to contribute to sustainable development and nation-building.

NCC Training Builds Key Skills

Brigadier Cheema emphasized that NCC training instills teamwork, leadership, decision-making, and organizational skills. He highlighted the NCC’s objectives in fostering leadership, discipline, environmental stewardship, social service, and community engagement, which align closely with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

He stressed that NCC training builds a strong foundation for careers in the Armed Forces, civil services, corporate sectors, and research institutions. He also commended PAU’s ongoing support for NCC activities and youth development initiatives.

New Facilities to Enhance Training

During the meeting, it was agreed to revive the historic firing range at PAU and develop a modern obstacle training facility to enhance physical fitness, confidence, and adventure training among cadets. NCC cadets will also be encouraged to participate in national innovation competitions, hackathons, and technology-driven initiatives.
