1.8 Lakh OBC Couples Married Under UP Mass Marriage Scheme

Lucknow: Under the Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana, the Department of Social Welfare has facilitated the marriage of over 1.8 lakh couples from Other Backward Class (OBC) families over the past nine years. An official from the department confirmed that a total of 1,80,017 couples from OBC communities have been married through this initiative since its inception.

2025-26 Achievements

In the financial year 2025-26 alone, the scheme enabled the marriage of 26,286 OBC couples. The program aims to reduce the financial burden on economically weaker families while ensuring dignified weddings for brides.

Financial Assistance Breakdown

Under the Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana, each couple receives a total financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh. The distribution is as follows:

  • Rs 60,000 is directly transferred to the bride's bank account.
  • Rs 25,000 is allocated for gifts and household goods.
  • Rs 15,000 is spent on organizing the wedding ceremony.
