Jaipur: Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Friday issued a stern warning to officials, stating that delays in public projects due to administrative laxity would not be tolerated. He directed strict action against those responsible for holding up works related to water supply, electricity, healthcare, roads, and other essential services.
Raj Unnati Review Meeting
Chairing the sixth meeting of the state’s monthly Raj Unnati review programme, Sharma emphasized that citizens must receive uninterrupted benefits of government schemes and development projects. "People should not suffer because of delays in approvals, tenders, or administrative processes. If development works are stalled due to negligence, responsibility will be fixed and strict action will follow," he said.
Action on Sanganer Project
Expressing displeasure over delays in the Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) pumping station and pipeline project in Sanganer, the chief minister directed officials to visit the site and expedite the work. He also instructed the chief secretary to streamline procedures related to approvals, land acquisition, tenders, and work orders.
"Major projects often get delayed at the stages of approvals, land acquisition, and tendering. These processes must be streamlined so that projects are completed within stipulated timelines," Sharma added.
Suspension of UIT Secretary
In a significant administrative action, the chief minister ordered the suspension of the Urban Improvement Trust (UIT) secretary in Sriganganagar and more than half a dozen other employees over alleged irregularities involving the issuance of two leases for the same parcel of land and commercial allotments on land reserved for public utilities.
Monsoon Preparedness
With the monsoon approaching, Sharma directed district collectors to ensure cleaning of drains, completion of road repair works, and preparedness to tackle seasonal diseases. He also ordered the formation of a committee to review procurement and availability of medicines in government hospitals. "There should be no shortage of medicines in government healthcare facilities, and all systems must remain fully prepared during the monsoon season," he said.
Khatu Shyam Ji Development
Reviewing development plans for Khatu Shyam Ji, Sharma instructed tourism department and Rajasthan State Road Development Corporation (RSRDC) officials to give the pilgrimage centre a modern and grand appearance and complete ongoing infrastructure projects on time.
Electric Buses Deployment
Officials informed the meeting that 29 electric buses had been delivered to Jaipur and 18 to Bhilwara under the PM e-Bus Sewa scheme. Sharma directed immediate deployment of the buses and speedy delivery of the remaining fleet.
Other Reviews
The meeting also reviewed implementation of the PM-JANMAN scheme, irrigation and power transmission projects, and preparations for Mission Hariyalo Rajasthan, which aims to plant 10 crore saplings during the monsoon season.
