Uttarkashi: A case has been registered against a 13-year-old boy for allegedly raping a nine-year-old girl in Uttarkashi district. The accused has been sent to a juvenile correction home, police said on Thursday.
Details of the Incident
Police said the boy is known to the survivor’s family. The incident occurred on Wednesday when the two children were playing near their homes. The accused allegedly took the girl to a secluded area behind a temple and raped her. The survivor’s mother had gone to a village fair, while her father was working in the fields at the time of the incident.
Discovery and Response
When the girl’s father returned home, he found her bleeding. The child then informed her family about the incident. She was taken to the sub-district hospital for treatment and the police were informed.
Station house officer Deepak Singh Kathait said both the survivor and the accused are minors. Based on a complaint by the girl’s father, a case was registered under relevant provisions of the Pocso Act.
