The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced the temporary closure of 18 metro stations across the Blue and Pink lines on Saturday, July 25, 2026, in view of large-scale protests organized by the Central Janata Party (CJP). Commuters are advised to plan alternate travel routes or use nearby open stations.
Stations Closed on Blue Line
According to a DMRC official spokesperson, the following stations on the Blue Line (Dwarka Sector 21 – Noida Electronic City/Vaishali) will remain closed until further notice: Dwarka Sector 21, Dwarka Sector 8, Dwarka Sector 9, Dwarka Sector 10, Dwarka Sector 11, Dwarka Sector 12, Dwarka Sector 13, Dwarka Sector 14, and Dwarka Mor. These stations are in the vicinity of the protest venue at Dwarka.
Stations Closed on Pink Line
On the Pink Line (Majlis Park – Shiv Vihar), nine stations are shut: Dhaula Kuan, Sir Vishweshwaraiah Moti Bagh, Bhikaji Cama Place, Sarojini Nagar, INA, Jor Bagh, Lok Kalyan Marg, Udyog Bhawan, and Central Secretariat. The closures are due to protest marches expected to converge near Parliament Street and India Gate.
Impact on Commuters
The DMRC has deployed additional staff and security personnel at entry gates and platforms to manage the situation. Passengers holding tokens or smart cards for closed stations can exit at alternate stations without extra charges. Buses and feeder services have been increased on parallel routes. A DMRC official stated, “We regret the inconvenience but safety of passengers and protestors is our priority. We request commuters to stay updated via our app and social media handles.”
Alternative Routes and Suggestions
Commuters traveling towards Dwarka can use the Airport Express Line or avail buses from Dwarka Sector 14 to Palam or Janakpuri West. For those heading to central Delhi, the Yellow Line (Samaypur Badli – Huda City Centre) remains operational with stops at Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, and Central Secretariat (only on Yellow Line). The Violet Line also provides connectivity to ITO and Mandi House.
Security Measures and Advice
Delhi Police has imposed Section 144 near protest areas and advised people to avoid large gatherings. Metro stations will be reopened as soon as the situation normalizes.
