The Amritsar Rural Police have arrested two individuals for allegedly possessing high-intensity hand grenades intended for attacks on police establishments. Preliminary investigations suggest the duo was operating under the direction of ISI-backed handlers based in Pakistan.

Arrests and Court Appearance

On the evening of July 3, 2026, both accused—including a juvenile—were produced before a local court, which remanded them to five days of police custody for further interrogation. The police identified Harjot Singh, a resident of Kuttiwal village in Bhindi Saidan, and a 17-and-a-half-year-old juvenile from Chak Mishri village as the arrested individuals.

Ongoing Investigation

A police official familiar with the investigation stated that efforts are underway to locate Anmolpreet Singh, a resident of Chak Mishri Khan village, who is suspected of possessing another hand grenade and an improvised explosive device (IED). The police are working to trace the source of the weapons and the full extent of the conspiracy.
