A 25-year-old man died after sustaining a severe head injury while attempting a high jump at a resort in Maharashtra's Raigad district on Sunday, according to police officials.
Incident Details
The victim, identified as Omkar Mhatre, a resident of Panvel, was at the resort with friends when the accident occurred. He attempted a high jump into a swimming pool but hit his head on the concrete edge, causing critical injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Police have registered a case of accidental death and are investigating the circumstances. The resort management has been questioned, and officials are checking if safety measures were in place.

This incident highlights the risks associated with recreational activities at resorts. Local authorities have urged resort operators to ensure proper safety protocols, especially around pools and high jump areas. "We are looking into whether the resort had adequate warning signs and lifeguards," said a police officer.
According to the Raigad police, no foul play is suspected, and the body has been sent for postmortem. The victim's family has been informed.
