Three people were killed and two others sustained critical injuries when a car skidded off the Ureh-Sanwara road and plunged into a deep gorge in the tribal Bharmour subdivision of Chamba district on Saturday, police said.
Victims and Rescue Operations
According to police officials, the deceased include two women and the driver, all of whom died on the spot. The two injured passengers were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment after rescue teams reached the scene.
Chamba Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar Saklani confirmed the incident and stated that rescue operations were initiated immediately upon receiving the information. “Police teams were rushed to the accident site as soon as information was received. Relief and rescue operations are underway, and efforts are being made to establish the identity of the deceased and the injured. The exact cause of the accident is being ascertained,” the SP said.
Investigation Underway
Police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the accident. The identities of the victims have not yet been officially confirmed. The accident occurred on the Ureh-Sanwara road, a route known for its treacherous terrain in the tribal region.
