₹5.5 Lakh Gold Watch Stolen in Hosur Showroom Heist

A high-value gold wristwatch, priced at a staggering ₹5.5 lakh, was brazenly stolen from a company-owned showroom in Hosur, Krishnagiri district, on Monday. The theft occurred while the showroom staff were away for their lunch break, providing a window of opportunity for the suspect.

The Heist: A Calculated Theft

According to the police report filed at the Hosur SIPCOT police station, the suspect entered the showroom and spent time examining several items in the gold watch section. After appearing to be a genuine customer, the individual suddenly removed the expensive wristwatch and swiftly left the premises. The entire incident was captured on the showroom's CCTV cameras, footage which is now being meticulously scrutinised by the investigating team.

Not Just Any Watch: A Historic Timepiece

The stolen item is no ordinary watch. As confirmed by a police officer from the SIPCOT station, the timepiece holds significant historical value for the brand. The watch was a model of the very first wristwatch produced by Titan, specially crafted in gold to commemorate the company's 40th anniversary. This makes the theft not only a major financial loss but also the loss of a commemorative piece.

Investigation Underway

The showroom management filed an official complaint on Monday evening itself, prompting an immediate investigation. Police are actively analysing the CCTV footage to identify the accused individual. Efforts are on to trace the suspect's movements before and after the theft. The case highlights the need for heightened security, especially in retail outlets dealing with luxury items, even during short staff breaks.

The investigation is ongoing, with authorities confident that the digital evidence will lead to a breakthrough in this audacious theft of a prized anniversary watch.
