8 Dead in Separate Road Accidents Across Uttar Pradesh

A series of tragic road accidents across Uttar Pradesh claimed eight lives between Thursday night and Friday morning, highlighting the grim state of road safety in the state. The separate incidents occurred in Prayagraj, Sultanpur, Banda, and another location, involving speeding dumpers, trucks, and an auto-rickshaw.

Prayagraj: Speeding Dumper Mows Down Two Youths

The first of these fatal accidents occurred near Shastri Bridge in Prayagraj on Thursday night. Two youths lost their lives after being hit by a speeding dumper. In a horrifying sequence, one youth was crushed under the wheels of the vehicle, while the other was dragged for approximately 100 metres before the dumper came to a halt.

Separate Crashes in Sultanpur and Banda

Early on Friday morning, a truck crashed into a tea stall in Sultanpur, resulting in the deaths of two people. Three others sustained injuries in this collision and were rushed for medical treatment.

In a third incident in Banda, a double tragedy unfolded late on Thursday near Dohatara village on the main road. Two youths on a bike collided and fell onto the roadway. Before they could recover, a truck ran over them, killing both. A third person involved in the bike collision was injured.

Auto-Rickshaw Door Malfunction Leads to Deaths

In a fourth and equally distressing accident, a woman and her minor daughter were killed when the door of their auto-rickshaw suddenly opened, causing them to fall onto the road. They were immediately run over by a speeding truck that was passing by. This incident underscores the critical need for vehicle safety checks and cautious driving.

These back-to-back accidents across multiple districts in a short span have raised serious concerns about road discipline, vehicle speed control, and overall traffic management in Uttar Pradesh. Local authorities are investigating each case, but the recurring theme of speeding heavy vehicles points to a systemic issue requiring urgent intervention.
