A shocking incident of brutal assault unfolded in Ahmedabad's Naranpura area on Thursday, leaving a 32-year-old man with serious stab wounds. The victim, identified as Ajay Padhiyar, was allegedly attacked by five individuals, including the estranged husband of a woman friend.
Chilli Powder and a Blow to the Head
The sequence of events began outside a residential complex in Naranpura. Padhiyar, who works at a tailor shop, had just dropped off his female friend at her workplace in KK Nagar and was waiting outside. According to his complaint, an unknown assailant suddenly threw chilli powder at his face, causing severe irritation and disorientation.
In the ensuing chaos, he was struck on the back of his head with a hard object, which caused him to collapse. As he tried to regain his footing and flee towards the safety of a nearby building, the main accused—the woman's husband—reportedly chased him down.
A Vicious Assault with a Knife
The attack escalated violently. Padhiyar alleges that the estranged husband stabbed him in the back and the left thigh. The complainant stated that the accused threatened him during the assault, claiming he was acting on instructions from his father.
He was not alone. Four other unidentified men joined in, and together the group subjected Padhiyar to a severe beating with fists and kicks. The assault continued relentlessly even as the victim bled profusely from his wounds.
Residents Intervene, Police Case Filed
The situation changed when residents of the nearby Ratnamani Flats, alerted by Padhiyar's screams, rushed to the scene. Seeing the crowd gather, the attackers fled the location.
The woman friend, who came out after finishing her work, discovered Padhiyar injured and immediately alerted the emergency services. He was rushed to Sola Civil Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment for his injuries.
Based on Padhiyar's statement, the Ghatlodia police have registered a case. The victim informed the police that his friend had not been living with her husband for the past several months due to ongoing marital disputes, which appears to be the motive behind the targeted attack.
The police are investigating the case and are expected to pursue the identified husband and his accomplices based on the complaint.
