Ahmedabad Youth on Scooter Chases, Molests Woman During Uttarayan
Police in Ahmedabad reported a disturbing incident on Thursday. A young woman faced harassment while traveling to celebrate Uttarayan.
Chase and Assault in Residential Society
A 19-year-old woman rode her two-wheeler to a relative's house. She noticed an unknown youth following her on another scooter. The girl attempted to lose him and refused any interaction. However, the pursuer continued the chase relentlessly.
Inspector S S Solanki provided details of the encounter. "When she turned back and tried to escape, he caught her hand and molested her before fleeing," Solanki stated. According to the official complaint, the youth also demanded sexual favours during the assault.
Police Action and Investigation
The victim informed her parents immediately after the incident. Her family approached the Kagdapith police station later that night. They filed a formal complaint, leading to the registration of a case.
Investigators clarified that the accused was not known to the victim personally. He appeared to be from the same locality. Police teams sprang into action, checking CCTV footage from cameras installed along the route.
Officials examined video from entry and exit points near the society. Preliminary leads and video footage helped identify the youth. Authorities are now making concerted efforts to trace and arrest him at the earliest.
Police are also recording statements from local residents. They are verifying additional footage from nearby streets. This evidence will help establish the precise sequence of events and strengthen the legal case against the perpetrator.
