Ajmer: Four Arrested for Trafficking Minor Girl

JAIPUR: Police in Rajasthan's Ajmer district have arrested four individuals for allegedly trafficking a 14-year-old girl and gang-raping her after selling her for Rs 32,000 under the pretext of marriage, officials confirmed on Friday.

According to reports, the arrests were made under the 'Umang Abhiyan-VII' anti-human trafficking drive. The accused have been identified as Roshni Khatun (22), Aafreen alias Noorjahan, Afsana alias Bijli, and Mohammad Zishant alias Dishu (21).

The case was registered at Dargah police station on June 13, 2026, following a complaint by the girl's mother, who stated that her minor daughter had been lured away by two women — Afsana alias Bijli and Marjeena.

Police launched a search operation and later rescued the girl from Sardarshahar in Churu district. Based on her statement, medical examination, and other evidence, relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act were invoked.

Investigators revealed that the case involved a planned conspiracy to sell the minor under the guise of marriage and sexually assault her. Circle officer of Dargah, Laxmanram, stated, "The minor was systematically lured, trafficked, and sold for Rs 32,000 for marriage, after which she was gang-raped. The girl was rescued from Sardarshahar. Four accused have been arrested so far."

Upon being produced before the court, Mohammad Zishant alias Dishu and Roshni Khatun were sent to judicial custody, while police remand was granted for Afsana alias Bijli. A search for the remaining accused, Marjeena, is ongoing, police added.
