Aurangabad Chemist Brutally Murdered, Traders Stage Protest Against Police Inaction
In a shocking incident that has sent ripples through Aurangabad, unidentified assailants shot and killed a 35-year-old chemist on Friday night. The victim, identified as Junaid Ahmad, was the owner of a medicine shop located at Nawadih More on the historic old GT Road. The brazen attack occurred around 9:45 PM, as Junaid was standing near a kiosk after closing his shop for the day.
Protest Erupts as Locals Decry Police Lapses
In a strong display of community outrage, local traders shut down their shops on Saturday to protest the killing. Residents and business owners voiced serious allegations against the police, claiming a complete absence of patrolling at crucial entry points, major intersections, and bustling market areas. This alleged negligence, they argue, provided the attackers with an easy escape route, highlighting systemic security failures in the region.
Details of the Fatal Attack and Medical Response
The assailants, riding motorcycles, opened fire on Junaid Ahmad, striking him with four bullets. He was immediately rushed to Aurangabad Sadar Hospital in critical condition. Due to the severity of his injuries, doctors referred him to the better-equipped Narayan Medical College and Hospital in Sasaram. Tragically, Junaid succumbed to his wounds while en route to the medical facility, marking a devastating loss for his family and the community.
Police Investigation and SIT Formation
Superintendent of Police Ambrish Rahul confirmed that an FIR has been registered at Nagar police station under case number 90/26. The complaint was filed based on the statement of the deceased's brother, Zubair Ahmad, and names seven accused individuals. The FIR alleges a conspiracy, stating that these individuals hired shooters to execute the murder.
Recognizing the gravity of the case, authorities have constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by the SDPO Sadar-1. Initial investigative efforts, including analysis of CCTV footage, technical data, and intelligence gathering, have already led to the arrest of one accused. Police are conducting intensive raids to apprehend the remaining suspects involved in this heinous crime.
Motive Points to Old Rivalry
Preliminary police investigations suggest that the murder stemmed from an old rivalry, though specific details remain under scrutiny as the SIT delves deeper into the case. This revelation adds a layer of premeditation to the attack, raising concerns about ongoing disputes in the area.
The incident has sparked widespread condemnation and calls for enhanced security measures in Aurangabad, as residents demand justice and accountability from law enforcement agencies.
