Auto Driver Dies After Assault in Bengaluru, Murder Case Filed

A 26-year-old auto-rickshaw driver, who was undergoing treatment after being assaulted by his acquaintance in Padarayanapura, West Bengaluru, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.

Victim and Accused Identified

The deceased has been identified as Mubarak, a resident of 7th Cross in Padarayanapura. The accused, Tabrez, is 46 years old.

Sequence of Events

According to the preliminary investigation, the incident began on May 1 when Mubarak accused Tabrez of taking his auto-rickshaw's parking spot. Around 10 am, the two engaged in a heated argument that escalated into a physical altercation. Local residents intervened, separated the duo, and sent them away.

However, Tabrez later attacked Mubarak with a wooden piece around 12:30 pm. Mubarak sustained a severe head injury and collapsed. Bystanders rushed him to a nearby hospital.

Family's Account

Mubarak's father, M Firoz, informed the police that he received news of the attack from his younger son. Mubarak was in a coma and undergoing treatment. He succumbed to his injuries on Saturday morning.

Legal Proceedings

The Jagajeevanram Nagar police initially registered a case of attempt to murder and arrested Tabrez. Following Mubarak's death, they have invoked murder charges and are conducting an investigation.

Mubarak had been married for a year and lived separately with his wife.
