Begusarai SHO Suspended Over Gangrape Case Negligence

Begusarai: Begusarai range DIG Shailesh Kumar on Friday suspended Chakia police station SHO Rajeev Ranjan in connection with a gangrape case. The action was taken for not treating the case with due seriousness. An FIR was lodged in the case on June 13. “A special team has been carrying out raids to arrest the guilty,” the DIG said.

Details of the Incident

Five individuals, including three named persons, have been named as accused in the complaint lodged by the victim. The gangrape case sparked outrage on Thursday after doctors recovered a cartridge, a pebble, and a piece of wood from the private parts of the rape survivor during surgery.

The victim alleged that when she stepped outside her room to go to the toilet situated just outside her house, criminals who were already present there held her captive and then took turns raping her. She said the criminals tied her hands and legs and even gagged her during the incident. After gang-raping the victim at a secluded place, the criminals threw her inside her house.

Medical Examination and Surgery

The victim was taken to the local sadar hospital for medical examination on June 12 and subsequently discharged the same day. When the victim then complained of severe pain, the doctors attributed it to her brutal gangrape. However, the survivor was again taken to the hospital on Wednesday as she complained of persistent pain. Subsequently, she underwent surgery on Thursday, during which the doctors recovered a cartridge, a pebble, and a piece of stone from her private parts.

The DIG visited the sadar hospital on Friday to meet the rape survivor.
