Bicholim police on Monday arrested Nilu Gaonkar, a 42-year-old resident of Madhlawada Shirgao, in connection with a hit-and-run case that occurred in Muslimwada, Bicholim, on Sunday. The accused was driving the car involved in the incident.

According to the complaint filed by the victim, Maleshi Basappa Talwar, a 41-year-old scooter rider from Vathadev, the car was traveling from Sanquelim to Bicholim when it collided with his oncoming scooter. The impact caused Talwar to fall onto the road, resulting in bodily injuries. The driver, instead of providing medical assistance, fled from the scene.

The Bicholim police acted swiftly, tracking down and arresting the accused. Nilu Gaonkar is now in custody as investigations continue.
