Speeding BMW kills food delivery executive in Chandigarh hit-and-run
A tragic hit-and-run incident claimed the life of a young food delivery executive in Chandigarh late Monday night. A speeding BMW car rammed into his motorcycle, causing fatal injuries on the spot.

The accident occurred between 2 am and 2.30 am on the dividing road between sectors 34 and 35. Khushmeet Rawat, a 26-year-old Swiggy delivery executive, was heading towards Sector 35 to deliver food orders when the BMW struck his bike from behind.
The impact proved devastating. The collision threw Khushmeet several metres onto the road. His head struck the pavement with tremendous force, leading to critical injuries and profuse bleeding.
Immediate aftermath and police response
The BMW driver fled the scene immediately after the crash. A passerby noticed the injured youth and informed the police control room. A PCR team rushed to the location and shifted Khushmeet to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Sector 32.
Doctors at GMCH declared him brought dead upon arrival. The police conducted a postmortem examination on Tuesday before handing over the body to his grieving family members.
Victim's background and personal story
Khushmeet Rawat originally hailed from Hardoi district in Uttar Pradesh. He had been living alone in a rented accommodation at Burail village in Sector 45 for approximately one and a half years.
His landlord, Sunny Sharma, shared poignant details about the young man's life. Sharma revealed that he had actually helped Khushmeet get married about a year earlier. The victim's wife, Aradhana, stayed in Chandigarh briefly before returning to her parental home in Hardoi.
Khushmeet preferred working night shifts because they offered more delivery orders and better earnings. Tragically, just before the accident, his friends had advised him against going out so late at night.
Police investigation and challenges
Sector 36 police station registered a case against the unidentified BMW driver. An eyewitness provided the vehicle's registration number to investigators, offering a crucial lead.
However, the investigation hit an immediate obstacle. When police visited the address linked to the registration number, they discovered the car had already been sold to another person. This development complicated their search for the actual driver at the time of the accident.
Police officers are now scanning CCTV footage from multiple cameras in nearby areas. They hope to trace the vehicle's movements and ultimately identify the accused driver responsible for this fatal hit-and-run.
