Body Found in Kanpur Drain, Police Seek Identification

Kanpur: The body of an unidentified man, approximately 45 years old, was discovered in the Khujaupur drain under the Maharajpur police station area on Friday morning. Local residents spotted the body and alerted the authorities. Police retrieved the remains and estimate that the body had been lying in the drain for about 15 days.

Investigation Underway

Rajesh Kumar, in-charge of Maharajpur police station, stated that a comprehensive investigation is in progress. Authorities are questioning notable individuals from the village and surrounding areas to help identify the deceased. Additionally, police are collecting information on missing persons from various police stations and outposts within the district and neighboring districts.

Use of Social Media

To expedite identification, police are utilizing social media platforms and WhatsApp groups to circulate details about the body. Villagers and police noted that the drain had been filled with water four to five days prior, and the body became visible only after the water level receded yesterday evening.
