Bopdev Ghat Gang Rape Trial: Survivor's Exam Done, Cross on June 10

The trial in the 2024 Bopdev Ghat gang rape and robbery case proceeded on Monday before the court of Additional Sessions Judge H.M. Bhosale. The further chief examination of the survivor was completed during the hearing.

Court Proceedings

Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwala Pawar represented the prosecution, while advocates for the accused were also present. The three accused, identified as Chandrakumar Raviprasad Kanojiya, Akhtar Babu Shaikh alias Shoaib, and Bapu Dashrath Gosavi alias Suraj, were physically produced before the court by jail authorities.

Pawar informed the Times of India, “The cross-examination of the survivor by the defence is to begin from June 10.”

Evidence Presented

During the proceedings, various items of muddemal (physical articles connected with the offence seized during investigation and produced as evidence) under ‘exhibit 26’ were taken on record. After the completion of the survivor’s further chief examination, the court adjourned the matter for her cross-examination on June 10.

The case pertains to an incident on October 3, 2024, involving the alleged gang rape and robbery of a 21-year-old event management student at Bopdev Ghat on the outskirts of Pune.
