Buxar Man Arrested for Allegedly Strangling Wife Over Motorcycle Demand
Police in Buxar district made a significant arrest on Tuesday. They took a 30-year-old man into custody for allegedly strangling his wife to death. This tragic incident occurred in Jokhi village under the Mufassil police station limits.
Details of the Accused and Victim
The accused has been identified as Upendra Rajbhar. He works as a tractor and JCB operator. His wife, Kabutari Devi, was only twenty-four years old. She hailed from Gahmar village in Uttar Pradesh. The couple tied the knot in April 2024. They had a three-month-old child together.
Events Leading to the Discovery
According to police reports, Kabutari Devi called her family on Monday. She told them she was fine during that conversation. Later in the evening, her in-laws contacted the family with alarming news. They said her health had deteriorated suddenly. The in-laws urgently asked the family to come immediately.
When the family rushed to Jokhi village, they found a heartbreaking scene. Kabutari Devi lay dead in the courtyard. Her infant child was crying nearby. The in-laws had already fled the location by that time.
Allegations and Police Action
The deceased woman's brother, Rishu Raj, made serious allegations. He claimed Kabutari Devi was strangled to death. The motive allegedly involved an unfulfilled demand for a motorcycle.
Following this incident, Mufassil police sprang into action. SHO Shambhu Bhagat led a special team. They used technical surveillance and gathered local inputs. Based on this information, police conducted raids. These efforts led to the arrest of Upendra Rajbhar.

The SHO provided updates on the case. He stated the accused is currently undergoing interrogation. Police are also investigating the possible role of other family members. The husband's role appears suspicious at first glance, the officer noted.
