The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has coordinated the deportation of a murder accused and fraud suspect wanted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) from Saudi Arabia. The accused was brought back to India to face charges in connection with a murder case and a separate fraud investigation.
Interpol Red Notice Leads to Geo-Location
According to the CBI, the accused was geo-located in Saudi Arabia after an Interpol Red Notice was issued against him at the request of the NIA. The Red Notice, which alerts law enforcement worldwide about wanted persons, enabled the tracking of his whereabouts in the Gulf state. The CBI and NIA had been pursuing the suspect for his alleged involvement in criminal activities, including murder and financial fraud.
Coordinated Effort Between Agencies
The deportation followed a coordinated operation involving the CBI, NIA, Indian diplomatic missions in Saudi Arabia, and local authorities. The CBI worked closely with Saudi security agencies to secure the suspect’s custody and arrange his return to India. Officials stated that such cooperation is vital in combating cross-border crime and ensuring fugitives are brought to justice.
Accused to Face Trial in India
Upon arrival in India, the suspect was handed over to the NIA for further legal proceedings. He is expected to be produced before a court and formally charged. The CBI highlighted that this operation underscores the effectiveness of international law enforcement mechanisms, particularly the Interpol Red Notice system, in tracking and apprehending fugitives abroad.
