Security Guard Arrested in Chennai for Molestation Attempt
A security guard in Chennai faced arrest this week after returning to the scene of a crime he committed three months earlier. The incident unfolded in the K K Nagar area, where the guard attempted to molest a Class XII girl who was alone at home.
Details of the Initial Assault
Police identified the suspect as Ganesh, a 40-year-old resident of Saligramam. In the initial incident, he entered the house by pretending to be an acquaintance of the girl's parents. Once inside, he engaged the girl in conversation before assaulting her.
The girl screamed during the attack, causing the man to flee the premises immediately. At that time, the family chose not to file a formal police complaint about the matter.
Mother's Vigilance Leads to Breakthrough
Despite not reporting the crime initially, the girl's mother took proactive steps. She collected footage from surveillance cameras installed near their home. From this footage, she saved a clear image of the suspect directly onto her mobile phone for future reference.
This evidence proved crucial when the suspect unexpectedly returned to the same house on Monday. Fortunately, the girl's mother was home during this visit and immediately recognized the man from the saved image.
Arrest and Judicial Custody
Showing remarkable presence of mind, the mother engaged the suspect in conversation to keep him occupied. Simultaneously, she alerted her neighbors about the situation. Together, they managed to detain the man until police arrived at the scene.
Authorities took the security guard into custody and subsequently presented him before a court. The court ordered him remanded to judicial custody as the investigation continues into the molestation attempt.
This case highlights how community vigilance and technological evidence can assist law enforcement even when formal complaints are delayed. The Chennai police are now conducting a thorough investigation into the security guard's actions and background.
