A woman accused of defrauding unemployed youth by promising jobs and issuing fake appointment letters has been arrested by Sydapuram police in Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh. The accused, identified as Bathala Rajitha, was taken into custody following a complaint from Pujari Chandana, a resident of Kalichedu village.
Details of the Fraud
According to Sydapuram CI Srinivas Rao, Rajitha collected ₹52 lakh in installments from Chandana by promising her a job at the State Bank of India (SBI). After receiving the money, Rajitha provided Chandana with a fake appointment letter and an identity card. The victim later realized the documents were forged and lodged a formal complaint with the police.
Investigation and Legal Action
Following the arrest, Rajitha was produced before a local court and remanded to judicial custody. Police investigations have revealed that Rajitha employed a similar modus operandi to trap and defraud numerous unemployed youngsters across the twin Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
CI Srinivas Rao stated that a thorough investigation is underway to identify any accomplices involved in the job scam. He urged other victims who may have been duped by Rajitha to come forward and report the incidents to the police.
