A shocking incident of invasion of privacy and breach of trust has emerged from Coimbatore, leading to the arrest of a police department driver. The accused, employed by the district police, was taken into custody for allegedly filming a young girl while she was bathing.

Details of the Coimbatore Bathroom Filming Case

The arrested individual has been identified as Mathava Kannan, aged 27, and originally from Tenkasi. At the time of the incident, he was working as a personal driver for a woman police inspector attached to the Coimbatore district police. Kannan was also residing at the inspector's official residence located in Brindhavan Nagar, Madukkarai.

The crime unfolded on Friday when a 19-year-old relative of the inspector was visiting the house along with her parents. While the girl was bathing in a bathroom inside the house, she made a horrifying discovery. She noticed Kannan filming her through a window, violating her privacy in a most egregious manner.

Immediate Aftermath and Police Complaint

Upon realizing she was being recorded, the young girl immediately raised an alarm. This prompt action caused the accused driver to flee from the scene. In an attempt to destroy evidence, Kannan also deleted the video he had recorded before escaping.

The traumatized victim did not stay silent. She informed her parents about the entire incident. Acting swiftly, her parents approached the Madukkarai police station and lodged a formal complaint against the driver. The police registered a case based on the complaint and initiated an investigation.

Arrest and Judicial Proceedings

The investigation led to the arrest of Mathava Kannan on Monday night. Following his arrest, he was produced before a local court on Tuesday morning. The court, after hearing the initial details of the case, remanded him to judicial custody. The case highlights a serious breach of conduct by an individual associated with the police force, raising concerns about safety and trust within residential premises occupied by officials.
