Vadodara: A viral video showing a traffic police sub-inspector slapping a tempo driver in Sama on Friday prompted swift action, with the cop in question shifted out within hours and a probe ordered.

The incident occurred when traffic police stopped a tempo allegedly overloaded with goods in the Sama area. After a challan was issued, an argument broke out between the driver and the policemen over the impounding of the vehicle. The co-passenger recorded the altercation on a mobile phone. The video shows police sub-inspector K M Maliwad slapping the driver during the dispute.
Immediate Action
The matter reached Sama police station and the video soon circulated widely on social media. After the backlash, the authorities transferred Maliwad from the traffic department to the control room, leave reserve. Police have instated an inquiry into the incident.
